Launching a Brand While Raising a Baby and Managing Diabetes: What I’ve Learned

I launched Studio Lyse during one of the most intense seasons of my life — caring for a baby, managing Type 1 diabetes, and juggling the emotional and physical ups and downs that come with both. It wasn’t easy. Some days I felt unstoppable, and others I felt like I had nothing left to give. But I kept going. Because I believed in my vision.

If you’re dreaming of launching your own brand while navigating a demanding life—whether it’s chronic illness, parenthood, or both—here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Work With Your Energy, Not Against It

I stopped forcing myself to work during “normal” hours. Instead, I began observing my body and energy levels. Some of my best ideas came at 10 p.m. while rocking my baby to sleep. Other days, rest was the most productive thing I could do.

2. Build in Breathing Room

I had to be realistic: things would take longer. So I stopped comparing my timeline to others’. I gave myself flexibility. I created soft deadlines with space for interruptions, flare-ups, or sleepless nights. And surprisingly, that space gave me room to be more creative.

3. Create Systems Early

Having a baby and managing diabetes means decision fatigue is real. That’s why I leaned into systems—templates, routines, checklists, automation. Even if I was tired, I could follow a flow I had already prepared during my clearer moments.

4. Accept Help (and Ask for It)

This one was hard. I had to accept that I couldn’t do it all. Asking for help—from family, friends, or even hiring support when possible—wasn’t weakness, it was wisdom. Every bit of help gave me room to show up better for both my baby and my brand.

5. Give Yourself Credit

Some days, launching Studio Lyse meant answering one email while breastfeeding. Other days, it meant building a full client proposal. Both were victories. I learned to celebrate the small wins, because they add up.

If you’re launching a brand while carrying a lot, I see you. It’s not easy — but it is possible. You’re not behind. You’re building something powerful, at your own pace, with more resilience than you even realize.
